Building Voxides Real time voice feature.
Vercel is great for serverless APIs, but serverless environments fall short for real-time voice. Because serverless functions are stateless and have strict execution timeouts, they struggle to maintain the persistent, low-latency WebSocket connections required for bidirectional audio streaming. To solve this for Voxide, I bypassed serverless endpoints for the real time layer. I routed the audio and state synchronization through a dedicated, persistent WebSocket server. This keeps latency minimal, prevents connection drops, and ensures the agent stays connected as you navigate.
